Marie Gilvey poses with one of her custom handmade necklaces.
Holiday music filled the air of the gymnasium during the 2010 Holiday Bazaar held at Lake Ridge Elementary School on Saturday, December 4, 2010 from 10AM – 2PM. It was the place to be as 17 vendors displayed their creative skills by offering arts and crafts as the holiday shopping season moved into full gear. Shoppers young and old made their way from table to table, some younger (shoppers in training), purchased “double-secret-decoder-don’t-tell-mom-and-dad” gifts for their parents—whoo hoo!
CorseCrafts donated bead jewelry set for giveaway (click for enlargement).
While parents were shopping, the kids had great fun with art activities at nearby tables. There was a drawing for several door prizes as well. CorseCrafts donated a beautiful bead necklace, bracelet, and earring set for the giveaway. This set, originally valued at over $40, included an 18″ neckace, 7″ bracelet and 2″ dangling earrings made with aqua glass beads and sterling silver clasps and posts.
“I really enjoyed this event” said Marie Gilvey. “It was well organized and well attended. I especially enjoyed speaking with the other vendors about their creations and other upcoming area shows—everyone was so nice and in a festive mood.”
Christopher’s miniature Christmas tree with working lights add holiday cheer to our display table.
Marie had several new items to show at her table which was improved dramatically by the addition miniature Christmas trees adorned with working lights and hanging ornaments donated by her son Christopher. Be sure to check out the slideshow (below) to see the other one.
CorseCrafts would like to thank the Lake Ridge Elementary School PTO and DeAnna Vasquez for selecting us to participate in this event. We will certainly want to attend again in 2011.
Next craft show…

One of my other passions is books, especially jewelry books. I feel that I have a very good collection; about 160 books and not one book is the duplicated (CONTENT EDIT BY HUSBAND: She didn’t tell you how may magazines she has! She must have a thousand or so the fill an entire 6′ book case). I have books on how to make clay beads, wire jewelry, simple instruction, crystal and more. In the future I would like to publish a book with only designs—it will give inspiration to experienced artisans and novices.
Do you have any favorite jewelry books?
Have you ever published a book of your work?

We had a lot of fun participating in Rosie Blok’s 3rd Annual Fall Craft Show. This year it was held at Old Bridge United Methodist Church in Woodbridge, Virginia. This was a much roomier venue compared to the previous years—that’s a great testament to how quickly this event is growing.
We made a lot of new friends and new contacts. We look forward to next year’s event. Here are a few more photos from the event. Rosie Blok should have a few more photos of the event posted to her Facebook Fan page. I’ll post the link when it becomes available.

New Bead Necklace for 2010 Holidays
I just finished 9 new designs that will be soon on my website. They are made with glass pearls, metal, kambaba jasper stone, carmelian, autumn jasper stone, wood, and lapis jasper. I am trying to finish a necklace with metal and multicolor glass pearls—will be good for wearing around the holidays. How do you like the necklace in this photo? Doesn’t it say “Holiday cheer” to you?”
I am working on a lot of new ideas and designs. I will be doing 3 last craft shows for this year all the info can be found on the right side of my home page or subscribe to my RSS feed.
